Technical Team Lead – Enterprise AI

Positioned fully remote within the UK, EU, Norway, or Switzerland, this role requires proximity within approximately two hours of Central European Time. This fast-growing enterprise AI business is focused on building safe, scalable AI systems for some of the world's largest organizations. As a Technical Team Lead, you'll guide and nurture a small, yet highly skilled team of backend and AI engineers, playing a pivotal role in developing production-grade agentic AI systems, backend services, and multi-agent communication layers.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a remote engineering team.
• Make architectural decisions across scalable, asynchronous Python systems.
• Stay hands-on with critical backend services, APIs, and AI orchestration.
• Translate complex business requirements into practical technical roadmaps.
• Establish strong engineering standards including testing, security, documentation, and code quality.
• Remove delivery blockers and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Ensure systems meet enterprise requirements for performance, reliability, and compliance.

Requirements

• Experience in technically leading a team of at least three engineers.
• Expertise in backend engineering with Python or Node.js.
• Deep knowledge of asynchronous programming and distributed systems.
• Experience with event-driven architecture such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis Streams.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Ability to balance hands-on engineering with leadership, mentoring, and delivery.
• Excellent communication skills within distributed, remote-first teams.

Experience with multi-agent systems, AI orchestration, generative AI, RAG, or cloud-native infrastructure is particularly valuable.
