Join the Deutsches Zentrum für barrierefreies Lesen (dzb lesen) as a Proofreader/Lecturer and Data Structurer. Contribute to making literature accessible for those with reading difficulties.

About the Position

The dzb lesen is a state-owned institution working to provide accessible literature in various formats for the visually impaired and others with reading challenges. This role is based in Leipzig and is initially set for a term of two years.

Your Tasks

• Proofreading against digital manuscripts in large print, regular print, and other formats.
• Introducing digital corrections.
• Collaborating to provide mutual reading for accuracy with a visually impaired colleague.
• Ensuring the accuracy of tables, graphics, and images.
• Conducting internet and dictionary research on language and grammar.
• Supporting blind colleagues with non-accessible tasks.
• Assisting in the preparation of media-neutral data productions.
• Testing, creating, and processing structured documents for varied output formats.
• Converting content into different formats.

Requirements

• Completed 3-year vocational training, ideally related to the field.
• Proven proficiency in German language, including grammar and style.
• Skilled in Word, Excel, Acrobat Professional, and XML editors.
• Experience with data marking and structuring according to layout specifications.
• Programming skills in XSLT, Python are a plus.
