About The Role As a Data Innovation Lab team member at AXA, you will be instrumental in generating tangible value from data and artificial intelligence (AI). You will work within the interdisciplinary "AI Business Capabilities" unit, collaborating closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business experts to develop innovative AI solutions that drive the long-term transformation of our insurance business. Your primary responsibility will be to support the seamless transition of AI experiments into stable, production-ready systems, ensuring their reliable operation in a live environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence core business processes through hands-on involvement in AI deployment, monitoring, and optimization.

In this position, you will identify commonalities across various AI applications, leveraging your abstraction skills to design and implement reusable software components, services, and infrastructure. You will continuously explore new topics and complex IT landscapes, combining technical expertise with business understanding to develop practical solutions for operational units. Additionally, you will oversee the operation and enhancement of in-house developed machine learning and AI applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability through monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills in Python, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI, Pydantic, Pydantic AI, Celery, Polars, PyTorch, and Transformers. A willingness to understand and integrate insurance processes into AI solutions is essential, enabling the development of solutions that align with business needs. You should be committed to sustainable software development practices, including test-driven development, clean code principles, code reviews, and proficient use of Git.

Experience with deploying AI-centric software systems using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud platforms such as AWS is highly desirable. Familiarity with MLOps and LLMOps practices, along with monitoring tools such as Grafana and OTEL, will be advantageous. Knowledge of developing workflows based on large language models (LLMs), including agent design, prompting strategies, and tools like MLflow and Langfuse, is a plus. Additionally, experience in project initiation—from ideation and prototyping to stable operation—and familiarity with SQL and TypeScript will strengthen your application.
